Barbara Heinisch is a researcher and lecturer at the Centre for Translation Studies at the University of Vienna and a translator and terminologist in the Communication Department at the University of Vienna. Her research interests include specialised translation, terminology, usability, accessibility and citizen science. In her dissertation, she focussed on different technologies used by translators in the translation process and the influence of new (technological) developments on the translation profession. She has also contributed to the development of translation-related technologies, such as a machine translation system, a terminology extraction and relation extraction tool and a lexicography website for the general public. She is currently working on the integration of large language models into translation practice and teaching.
