University of Innsbruck
Astrid Schmidhofer works as a Senior Scientist at the Department for Translation Studies at the University of Innsbruck. She studied Spanish and English at the University of Vienna. She did master’s degrees in the areas of Translation Studies, Audiovisual Translation and Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language in Spain as well as a PhD in Translation Studies at the University of Córdoba. Her research focuses on language training in translation studies, translation teaching, language comparison (German-Spanish) as well as AI and machine translation from a teaching/learning and user perspective. Since September 2021, she has been working on her habilitation thesis, which centres on translation-oriented language development and is financed by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF). She authored many articles in specialised journals and book chapters, edited various volumes and co-edits Forum Translationswissenschaft published by Peter Lang.
